Friday, January 10, 2014 - This is a wonderful wine that eschews big fruit, in fact almost any fruit, in favor of old world subtlety. It is a gorgeous amber. There are waves of assorted honeys, hints of tangerine and melon, subtle green licorice, and an elusive earthy graphite minerality. Yet it is all nuance, nothing is overstated, and it invites you to work a little. When you get to the citrus element at the end it is more like a discovery of something hidden than freely offered. Despite the oak, this is as far from chardonnay as you can get. Delicious.
