Saturday, July 4, 2020 - Being 34 years old this Pauillac shows fully mature bouquet, but with a certain liveliness. Quite classic left bank nose showing that aged cassis nose together with the classic Pauillac character with cigar, cedar and leather. Bit rustic, but charming nose.
The palate is medium bodied showing dried cherry and cassis. Surprisingly luscious, but still with a certain rustic character with some graphite at the finish. Slightly grainy tannins, although almost fully resolved. This bottle showed a certain concentration and fullness that I have been missing in some recent bottles. I think I prefer the ’86 to ’85 at this stage.
This was a charming bottle of Clerc Milon. Very classic. Moderate length. Ready to drink now. Not perfect bottles is probably going to be tired at this stage. Not scored appropriately, but I remember this as around 91-92 points.
