Friday, January 3, 2014 - Dark and viscous in the glass. Opening nose of fresh dark berries, berry pie and hints of evergreen and mint, concentration of each is beautifully strong. Overtime evolves into more complex iron, and rust elements with blackberry in the background. Palate is big and broad, showing structure and tannin, with more black berry, forest floor, evergreen, earth, and iron elements. Somewhat reminiscent of an Haut Brion - perhaps given the Cab Franc percentage. Wine is certainly young and is very age worthy, yet drinkable today with a decent decant. My first Jonata and good one at that.
