Tuesday, December 8, 2009 - Brilliant medium garnet with hint of brick at edge. Reticent nose barely opens after an hour in the glass. Red fruit, minerals, iron, some vitamin on the nose. Similar palate impression, though the fruit is, thankfully, a little more prominent. Slightly metallic and mineral element to the palate - maybe a little cardboard. The fruit is sweet without being the least bit jammy--it is sweet but lean, which makes it interesting and keeps me coming back to the glass over and over. Alas, a little washed out, as well. Decent finish. I am curious as to how this will develop over the next few hours/day. I can imagine this being pretty yummy with a lighter stew. Not sure how I want to rate this. (86 - 90?).
