Saturday, November 4, 2006 - VC's Third Annual Cult Smackdown (San Jose, California): Served as part of a blind tasting at the Lion & Compass as part of the VC Third Annual Cali Cult Smackdown: my brief notes were: "fabulous nose of sweet fruit; some eucalyptus notes; forest woods and mushrooms." I did not rate all six wines of the flight, but the top two for me were the 2002 Phelps Insignia #1 and the 2002 Pride Reserve Claret #2.
