Friday, December 6, 2019 - Drinks beautifully right now, still has a LOT of power. Would recommend an hour decanting at least. Lots of tertiary aromas such as cigar box as well as a dominating flavor of licorice. Perfect pairing with venison and chestnut purée. I had been told by a Bordeaux producer that the ‘03 were starting to decline because it was a warmer vintage but he was probably not talking about that sort of product. This will still hold for almost a decade.

12/6/2019 9:34:00 PM - The Northern left-bank Bordeaux - Montrose, Cos, Calon Segur, Leoville Barton - are just out of their adolescence and starting to hit their stride, especially with an hour or two of decant. These will still be drinking beautifully for the next 10 to 20 years.
