Simply put the tannins are starting to take over and while they are round and smooth it appears that they are now the most prominent component of this wine. Of course it's hard to make conclusions based on one bottle but my gut feeling is that this is not going to improve much from here. A bottle of the 1985 tonight, while overall more advanced, was also much more balanced and enjoyable to me.
