Saturday, June 20, 2015 - Perhaps this wine represents the biggest surprise of the year. I certainly expected it to be good, but to be one of the best Chardonnays I have tasted I did certainly not expect. The 2010 White Stones has one of the most intriguing, well-balanced and integrated Chardonnay noses I have ever come across. After some time in the glass there is lovely fruit, apricots, tangerine, sun warm lemon zest combined with white flowers on a sunny summer meadow by the ocean. Adding tho this is a profound minerality and rock solid structure. This wine is certainly elegant, but there is also a texture and structure providing a nice backbone and creaminess. The palate adds even more to the overall experience. Perfectly balanced and integrated it provides a lovely mouth coating feeling - almost cream like in its viscosity - but with a razor sharp texture... Power, elegance, silkiness and a profound experience is what this wine offers today. There is no doubt some time in the cellar will help developing the wine even further, but it certainly is a treat tonight too given a proper decant, or just some time in the glass. (score is a rock solid 96+)
