Saturday, April 25, 2015 - I am not a fan of Gewurztraminer, which is why this bottle sat in my cellar for so long -- it was received as a gift. I was very pleasantly surprised how it had aged. The cloying rose character characteristic of Gewurztraminer was diminished, and the side notes that I find distracting in a Gewurztraminer were completely gone. Instead, the wine was very nicely integrated and noticeably less sweet. I would even go so far as to say it had elegance and poise. I don't recommend keeping a Gewurztraminer for so long, but if your cellar is good like mine, you might like the result.

6/3/2015 11:25:00 AM - Thanks for posting this note. I too have a gift bottle of the 03 in my cellar and have debated opening v. keeping it. Your review encouraged me to go ahead and give it a try. I just recently upgraded my membership in Cellar Tracker and so far have found it to be very helpful especially when I receive tips like this one on a very obscure wine. Thanks again.
