Harsh tannins and not very pleasurable on its own.

The black currant and cherry notes where still fresh and joined by classic cedar and tobacco aromas and flavours. The tannin was fine and mostly resolved, and the wine was balanced and harmonious. Admittedly, the bottle was stored under ideal conditions since release, but I am sure there are more lovely bottles out there. I am sorry that yours did not show quite as well. Cheers!

I still have two bottles of the 1988 and consider opening another bottle soon since the last bottle showed so well and I haven't been able to spent enough time with it. Let me know if you ever make it for the Frankfurt area, maybe we'll get to pop the last bottle together. ;)
