Saturday, March 10, 2018 - Dinner for Blair Walter at Noble Rot (Noble Rot, Wellington, NZ): Surprisingly perhaps, a little deeper gold than the other wines. A nose of spices, pears, grapefruit and lemons. For many at this dinner, this Bâtard was their favourite of the four wines, perhaps due to its harmony and balance. It was described as "perfectly formed" and thought by some to be the oldest, most resolved wine of the four. It was quite seamless, with generous, plump fruit and good volume. Mine was a minority view in finding it a little bland and straightforward. Still, it's young and far from a bad wine ... My rating though 4/4.
