92 Points

Saturday, October 12, 2019 - High energy, bright red fruit and a true Cote de Beaune acid-backed nose make for an. absolutely delightful bottle-- with 60-75 minutes of double decanting. Coming-out of a light retreat, this exuberant wine shows the higher-toned side of refinement. A bit less corpulent than a Chambolle or Vosne, but marking its territory--and terroir- with red currant, raspberry, menthol, nettle and a wonderful acid backbone that brings the level of excitement to the fore. Some criticize Vougeraie for excess oak; this might have displayed some two years ago but the residue is barely noticeable now. These will keep for 10 years but are accessible now with prepare decant.
