Saturday, September 19, 2020 - This wine had a medium yellow center and clear rims. It had the look of a wine that had not been filtered much, if at all. The medium- intensity nose showed some apples, vanilla, and minerals.
In the mouth, I found this quite tight and somewhat dominated by it toasty oak component. It had modest acidity and length. It certainly got better with a few hours of air but it never lost that excess of oak.
This was the first Rhys Chard I have tried and it did not hold a candle to their efforts in Pinot. Hopefully, this was just a relatively weak bottle or maybe not the best vintage for this wine.
