Monday, November 30, 2015 - Larkmead Tasting (Larkmead, Napa): Drank at Larkmead alongside the 2012 Solari, Salon, and Firebelle.
A friendly enough Cabernet with notes of plum, red currant, and some cedar/forest floor underpinnings. The mid-palate receives a generous coating of classic Cabernet flavors, but falls just a bit short for me on the back end. Not an extraordinarily memorable Cabernet overall, but still delivered the requisite goods at the end of the day.
A wine ready to drink now and over the next 5+ years. Perhaps age will help this fatten up a bit more, but I'm not entirely confident that time in bottle will ultimately improve this wine beyond what it is kicking out currently. A good entry level Cabernet with a QPR that is only so-so given comparables out there in the Napa Cabernet world that deliver similar satisfaction.
