Thursday, November 12, 2020 - Waited six years and a one hour decant before tasting my first 2012 Larkmead Cab...and despite my patience, it was still tightly wound with active tannins along with dark blackberry fruit. The Cab has distinct notes of currant, violet, dark chocolate and cola on the palate with a hint of licorice on the finish. While this is clearly a well made wine, think this needs more time to fully enjoy.

I think that there must be some variation in this bottling, as I had a remarkably similar experience with this a bit over a year ago (I commented that I was going to wait 2-5 years with my other bottles) but have seen several subsequent TNs saying that this is in the prime of its drinking window. Either that or some other wine drinkers just like formidable tannins more than I do . . . Cheers!
