91 Points

Wednesday, May 20, 2009 - 62% Cabernet Sauvignon, 28% Merlot, 8% Petit Verdot, 2% Cabernet Franc. Decanted for three hours before tasting. This wine has definitely shut down. What can be sensed is certainly enjoyable, but both the nose and the palate are somewhat muted. The wine is an opaque ruby/purple color - very dark. With a great deal of air and coaxing, you can get whiffs of blueberry, blackberry, and graphite. As expected, not much in the way of secondary aromas at this stage. The palate is smooth and lush with a velvety texture, balanced by some dusty tannins that will more fully integrate with time. I don't plan to touch another bottle for several years. The rating is indicative of how this showed tonight - I would expect a dramatic increase in the score if this fulfills its promise in the long run.
