Wednesday, July 6, 2011 - Nutty had this right, nose was at one moment blossoming, the next very muted during dinner. Aromas that were coaxed out were vanilla, ripe cherries, and spice. Palate was very rich with concentrated black fruits and lots of leather mixed with some earthy/coffee elements. I felt this was even with Rauzan at beginning of night, but it gained added complexity with time. Day 2 really saw this wine bloom, with a great persistent finish, but plenty of acidity. Considering this wine received a 12 hour decant the day of opening and even got better on day 2 shows the depth of fruit. Can only improve with age.
