Monday, October 23, 2006 - Deep ruby black/red color. Nose of menthol blackberry fruit, graphite and a touch of loamy soil funk. Very tightly wound fruit, with nice layers of intensity. You taste the tart fruit first, but are impressed with the elegance of the midpalate and then the tannins hit you with a vengance. Not very giving at the moment, but the finish lingers for quite a while and the intensity of the whole package leads me to believe that in 20 years this version will rival the 1982. No need to open another one for at least 5 years, as there is a lot of development still to come.
