90 Points

Tuesday, December 25, 2012 - Popped & poured with prime rib Xmas dinner after our planned Barolo was found to be corked. The poyferre was tight to start & not offering much. Over the course of an hour it slowly opened up and although the bouquet still failed to open up the palate revealed subtle dark fruits with dominant notes of pencil lead & graphite. There was a medium body with a medium finish highlighting notes of menthol & mint. My sister couldn't get over barnyard notes on the finish which I failed to pick up. Although it was interesting I was expecting a little bit fuller body & fruit profile with 2003 being a hot year.
