Wednesday, January 27, 2010 - Medium/deep ruby core, medium pale ruby rim. Attractive perfumed cassis nose, slightly gravelly fruit with hints of cedar and chocolate. Medium bodied, more sweet cassis fruit but also initially some slightly off-putting cardboardy notes on initial attack, these clear on mid-palate to leave an attractive medium weight claret with sweet cassis fruit, some rich earth, fine tannins and then bright acidity carrying a good length sweet fruited finish. Cardboardy notes not noticeable after an hour or so. Very good indeed, drinking well now but no hurry. 12.5%ABV
