Thursday, July 6, 2017 - This wine surprised me after it had been open for three days. The first and second day it was relatively harsh and uninviting. If I had finished it I would have rated it in the low 80's. But today, with one glass left, I found it soft and full and very pleasant from start to finish on the palette. I think many wines are drunk before they have properly matured, and this is a good example. The 2012 Poggio Scaletto Chianti Classico could sit for another year at least. If you find some just put it away for a year or two and then open it up. It is not Barolo or Brunello, but with plenty of oxidation it was very enjoyable.
