Thursday, December 18, 2014 - A good vintage for this wine, it would seem. Balanced and fresh in character, although also infused with an earthy gravelly minerality that is interesting, although not always viscerally pleasing. Not a fruity wine, even at this very young state. This is good - it drinks well with food, it's a lovely little wine. But it costs $28 now. That's more than what a lovely little wine should cost. I love Baudry, but I'm just saying, I think we are in territory now where as good as the wines are, Grezeaux may cease to merit the price, relative to other wines of similar quality.

12/19/2014 12:47:00 PM - I love the wines and understand their upside, although the oldest I've ever had is '96 which isn't really that old. My point is the "you can dress up a pig but it's still a pig" point. Bourgogne at $60 is also a lot - it's Bourgogne, not 1er cru. The Grezeaux vineyard gives lovely wines in Baudry's hands and in some years, like 2010, are superb. But mostly they are lovely table wines from good terroir but also terroir that is limited in its expression. I think of Grezeaux as costing about $20 after case discount. Now it's 25 with case discount. Not really saying anything more than that.
