Community Tasting Note

Saturday, May 13, 2006 - Very dark ruby red, not purple. At first strange vegetable notes on the nose that blow off after 15 mins or so. Little bit of mint on the nose with tar and wood, little fruit. On the palate, fruit seems to be masked by too much oak, tannin and heat, though there's some tart dried cherry in there, and earth. More acid than I expected, maybe this would be better with food than I would have guessed. Finish is fairly long, but seems disjointed, with some heat and a metallic taste.
