Saturday, February 24, 2024 - Anderson's 2012 Right Bank offering is a blend of 67% Cabernet Franc and 33% Merlot. Purchased upon release and cellared in pristine fashion, this bottle was decanted off of its heavy sediment and serially tasted over a four-hour period. Deep ruby/red in color, it serves up an intense bouquet of morello cherries, dark bramble fruits, melted licorice, bittersweet chocolate, pipe tobacco and lavender. Full-bodied, fresh, seamlessly alcoholic (14.9%) and with well-integrated wood, it delivers flavors mirroring the nose, adding a savory herbal component. At this stage the tannins remain plentiful but powdery in texture, resulting in a fleshy wine with no rough edges. The middle palate is layered and dense, leading to a finish that lingers nicely. This hedonistic homage to Bordeaux's Right Bank is an absolute joy to drink. The fruit and structure are in place to ensure that comparably cellared bottles will easily reach their twenty-fifth birthday. If you choose to pop the cork at this stage, give it a couple of hours in decanter for maximal enjoyment. Drink now-2037.
