Sunday, March 10, 2013 - I am sad to report that this wine needs to be consumed quickly. In my opinion, it's best days have passed. The bottle was well stored and the cork was in near perfect shape. I tried it immediately upon opening and found it to be thin like grape juice with a slight Granache like quality. After some air, it picked up some weight but was still flat, lacked any complexity and had almost no finish. After even more time (about two hours now) whatever structure it did have began to fall apart and it became harsh and the alchohol became more prominent. Personally, I think it's time to take a hard look at opening all domestic cabs from the 1990's - certainly 1997's and even 1999's. I have had too many who's best days were behind them lately and a lot of bottle variation too.....both of which will only get worse. (this bottle was from Magnum)
