Saturday, February 7, 2009 - Based on some the of the other reviews I thought it time to open a bottle as some seem to think it may be reaching a peak. Decanted for 2 hours before tasting. A very rich purple/ruby color with some amber on the edges. The nose revealed very nice and elegant aroma's of dark fruits, black cherry, cassis and dust. The nose was not intense nor was it subdued. It was just right and really dialed in. On the palate the tannins were wonderfully integrated with black cherry, blueberry, earth and smoke while a touch of oak and vanilla really rounded out a nice flavor profile. Very smooth and well balanced and a nice medium finish. I didn't find the finish as long as the 2004 I recently had but it was a bit more elegant and refined than the 04 though the 04 is a bit better overall. This is very well balanced and integrated and I agree with the others who suspect this may be at its peak. I would drink now or hold for no more than 2 more years...I just don't see it getting any better. 50+5+13+17+6 (because I don't think it will last much longer)=91.
