Sunday, June 19, 2011 - Heard a lot about this cult wine, have some in the cellar. Shoulder level, oops, 10% evaporated, cork fully soaked. Cork is crumbling using corkscrew, had to change it to old cork extractor. Decant. Instant strong damp wood stench, earth, mushroom, but not the truffle variety. Vanilla, overripe cherries, plums, minerals earth showing up after 2 hours. Crimson coloured, sediments, rusty looking. Tannin in the foreground, rather closed initially, layers of strawberry, gooseberry, citrus fruits, orange peel on the palate revealing itself with some time. Dry fruits finish lasting more than 30 sec. I think I should leave it air for longer, certainly it's personality is not straightforward, as I been warned about it's characteristics, I have agreed it is not a typical BDX
