Sunday, January 25, 2015 - 19 Vintages of Musar Rouge; 1/25/2015-1/26/2015 (Clark Point House in Southwest Harbor, Maine): Color: Ruby core leads into a mostly tawny color throughout
Smell: Forest floor, cement, leather, smoked/charred meats, dried red fruits, clove, oolong tea, mushrooms, and tobacco.
Taste: A melange of red, blue, and black fruits dance and shift along the palate throughout a long finish that leans in a more rustic style; leather, tobacco, and baking spices.
Overall: In the mouth this is all power, med+ body, med+ acidity, med+ tannin. There is brilliance in this wine that commands attention and thought. In honor of Bart Broadbent who made tasting the '84 Rouge possible I'll use the five * system. (*****)
