Sunday, January 18, 2015 - Sonoma Winter WINEland 2015 (Sonoma): Highly concentrated dark ruby in the glass. Pronounced tearing.
Slightly reductive nose of distinct bacon, with ripe raspberry, red cherry.
In the mouth. Dark fruit, powerful, and extracted, with elevated tannins. Reminds me of a Sagrantino. Rich, with a bit of mushroom, blackberry. It’s blocky and monolithic. I’m digging this. Strong fruit on the palate but closed down on the nose. This seems like it should age for a decade or three. This is a style I really like. (didn’t note the tannin texture).

Score: Around 9.
