Monday, February 17, 2020 - Medium bodied, rustic. Bricked burgundy color. Spiced nose of dark red fruit, dried herbs particularly thyme and pine needles, some volcanics, bramble. Traditional but not a bold hermitage palate, notably mentholated towards pine/conifers and perhaps almost a green botanical medicinality after 3 hours. Plenty of minerals granite and iron in its core. Good balance and length, though tannins are still gritty.

Had the 2014 a few weeks ago, this is 2 years older but looks and tastes more like 6-8 years. In a good place, give it 45 minutes of air to open the finish — it gets quite rich. Too much time with air and it thins. Ready today, though will develop further with cellaring.
