Saturday, June 6, 2020 - Few hours of air. Drank in Grassl 1855.
Appearance is clear, deep intensity, ruby colour. Long legs.
Nose is clean, medium+ intensity, with aromas of alcoholic heat, fragrant oak, fresh earth, dark stony minerals, blackcurrant confiture, tar and creosote. Developing.
On the palate, dry, high acidity, high alcohol (14.9%), mouth-filling high tannins, full body. Medium+ flavour intensity, with flavours of deep concentrated black cherries, blackcurrant confiture borderline jam, redcurrants, dark stony minerals, menthol, dark herbs. Tar and creosote with more air. Very complex. Very long finish.
Outstanding quality. Takes you on a very thrilling ride as this is somehow bold and seemingly flirting with blockbuster potential but it it remains on the edge. This particular bottle still feels like it could age more and develop over the next 4-5 years easily actually. Wow.
97% Cabernet Sauvignon, 2% Merlot, 1% Cabernet Franc.
