Forward and lush, without seeming overripe. Black fruit with some green pepper and tobacco hints. Good tannins, short on acid. I recall tasting this en primeur in Bordeaux in 2004 and finding it excessive, so like that it has softened nicely. I would have expected greater concentration from Montrose in this vintage.
