Saturday, October 3, 2020 - Good colour with no signs of age. Nose was slow to develop at first but showed just a trace of 'farmyard' at first (nice) but this was short-lived. Within an hour of opening the rich palate showed good dark, mainly blackberry, fruits with soft integrated tannins, hints of spice, good balance and length. It improved over 5-6 hours. Good on its own and even better with food. Next day, the wine was drinking well and was a fine partner to duck confit.
Well worth keeping to this point and it has life yet. The drinking dates shown are too pessimistic and I have added a (conservative) couple of years to the end date. I'm surprised there have been no notes for the last 4 years - this is a wine that always develops over a longer time span. Nice wine.
