Tuesday, March 31, 2015 - Fantastic Spätlese, but at this point it's hardly news - Schaefer seems to hit it out of the park every vintage these days, and this is no exception. Incredibly bright, piercing fruit ranging from tarter citrus and green apple notes to riper peachy fruit, exotic floral and herbal accents, and a vivid slatey undertone beneath the fruit. Moderate sweetness balanced by powerful acidity that keeps it razor sharp and very vibrant on the palate, and just a stunning wine.
