91 Points

Sunday, August 8, 2010 - This wine had an intense nose of red apples, ginger, sticks, and leaves. Initially, this was awkward with way too much heat on the mid-pallate and finish. After I let it sit for an hour or so it settled down and the wine was much more enjoyable. This is a big riesling with a medium to heavy body and flavors reminiscent of autumn/thanksgiving: baked apples, cinnamon, pumpkin spice, and nutmeg. The finish is relatively long and dominated by dead leaves and twigs. This happened to pair phenomenally well with a chicken pot pie. In fact, this may have been one of the most enjoyable food-wine pairings I ever had. 90 +1 (for the excellent pairing).
