Saturday, July 11, 2015 - This is a superb example of the potential for great Syrah grown and made in California. A vibrant, rich and concentrated wine with ripe explosive dark fruit nose, full bodied palate and lingering complex finish. Deep glass and teeth staining purple color. Fruit first, especially blueberry preserves on the palate, but tons of secondary supporting flavors like licorice, rum, raisins, brown spice and lead pencil. Plenty of medium heavy toast oak. Still very young with gritty tannins and awesome balancing acid. Drinks fine now but has a long life ahead.
