Community Tasting Note

Sunday, August 3, 2014 - RRV and Napa Visit; 7/7/2014-8/30/2014 (Napa and Sonoma): This was called Cervantes in 2010 and 2011.
Leon Cervantes was a surveyor in the 1800s that laid out the land around Napa.
This wine is 6 weeks off the bottling line.
Malbec and Syrah from Bald Mountain in the 2012, along with some Cab Franc.
The 2011 was Syrah and PS, prior to that it was w/Zin.
Those components mentioned above, plus the mainstay of Cabernet, Merlot, and Petit Verdot.
Crunchy aromas of cranberry, black fruit and tobacco. Wow, very old school/worldly styled. Med/- fine grained tannin.

12/2/2014 10:53:00 PM - NZINKGRAF, your 9/12/2014 post accurately details the blend for this wine. You may consider removing/deleting your 8/3/2014 post, which communicates an inaccurate blend for this wine, and including it on the actual 2012 Chappellet Cervantes Mountain Cuvee page here: https://www.cellartracker.com/wine.asp?iWine=1900141&searchId=2004CEDA%23selected%253DW1900141_1_K1270a0ae3ddbdcfe953cbb15f11f04d9

12/3/2014 8:05:00 PM - Thanks for noticing. Both the 8/3 and 9/12 notes were taken from presentations of their wines by their winemaker and national sales mgr. While I had noted the difference in 'opinion' of the blend when entering the tasting notes, I have now adjusted the 8/3 note to avoid confusion. Here's to a glass of Chappellet!
