80 Points

Sunday, July 29, 2007 - Was looking for yet another bottle to open (has been a bit of a dry period of late). So I perused the cellar and noticed one particular wine had pushed its way out of the wine rack and was writhing a bit. Hard to resist that, so I grabbed hold as any man would. As I climbed the stairs I firmly wrapped my hand 'round the foil and pulled. With nary a sound the plastic "foil" lifted leaving the cork exposed.......I immediately recognized it for the tart that it was, but, again being a man, continued without hesitation.

Color is darkish red, but not opaque. The nose is Ranier cherries, floral notes with a hint of white pepper. At first blush the palate shows a medium weight wine showing sour cherries, vanilla and spice notes, not to mention considerable miles. Some heat and a medium long finish confirm that this wine has been ridden hard and put away wet. The palate clearly shows Smith Bros. cough drops, which immediately remind me of that nasty cold I had back in Jr. High school. The finish reminiscent of the blond I had while skipping photography class in Sophomore year in HS. (not a bad thing...I mean, it was her or taking B&W photos of spider webs in the woods. It rocked at the time).

Overall I'd say this was as an 80. (With apologies to "the blond" from sophomore year).
