91 Points

Thursday, May 7, 2015 - This is one of the more enjoyable wines I have tasted in a while. It is just a slight bit of concentration away from being a mid 90 something point wine. This 2011 seems to be their current release. For a mid $20 wine, this is a real mouth full of flavor. The nose has an expressive, vibrant, rich, spicy, cranberry, mocha, menthol. blueberry, blackberry and smoke aroma. The palate sports a spicy, brooding deep plum and black cherry fruitiness. Secondary flavors of licorice, lead pencil, vanilla, charcoal and cocoa bean. Really nice integration of plenty of oak and tannin. Balanced, maturing acidity. Some rhubarb and concentrated blackberry preserves on the finish.
