Sunday, March 29, 2015 - Near black in color, a wine of obvious extract upon swirling in the glass. Decanted for an hour. The nose was rather shy, only beginning to open up after another hour or so, offering up aromas of the deepest blackberries, plums and molasses. Teeth-staining and mouthcoating on the palate, with a rich, full mouthfeel and ample fine tannins. The wine is super young, monolithic and a tad tiring to drink at this stage. To me, it needs a good 2-3 years to drop some baby fat and (hopefully) gain a bit of elegance and more complexity. However, outstanding QPR here for a wine of such quality, magnitude and potential.
