Sunday, April 8, 2012 - Decanted four hours. Concentrated appearance and palate. Deep color of dark cherry wood. Exuberant, fascinating aromas of menthol and unsmoked, moist cherry pipe tobacco and flowers. Ripe palate characteristic of the vintage - not classic - full and nodding to California cab, but really, really excellent. Palate saturating layers of sweet black cherry, a whisper of fresh tree-picked tart choke cherry, bonfire ash and clove. Well made. Harmonious balance of fruit, polished tannins and acid. Medium plus finish. This is drinkable now and will be a treat for years.
