Thursday, December 22, 2011 - Half bottle. Medium color. There is a funny chemical, ethyl acetate note which runs through the wine but does not ruin it. Beyond or beneath that, lighter style, crisp acidity, tart red fruit, green olive and a host of herbs. Quite powerful in the mouth because of the acidity. Good traditional Chateauneuf and very true to Vieux Donjon-savory, complex, not too lush or overblown. I bet that better bottles exist. Reminiscent of '99 in its leaner, greener style.
