Wednesday, May 4, 2011 - Château Léoville Las Cases Back Vintage Dinner (Chambar Restaurant, Vancouver, BC): In contrast to some of the other notes below, the nose wasn't giving much, which wasn't surprising considering how young this is. I felt is was pretty shut down at the moment. Nose dominated by sweet blackberry, along with some cherry, plum, mint, asphalt, and a touch of blueberry. Tons of tar and cigar box on the ripe palate, complimented by gobs of black cherry, prune, plum, lead pencil, and some blueberry. Extremely dry with gripping tannins. Long+ finish ending with notes of cigar leaf. Very good.
