Sunday, May 5, 2019 - Vinetasters: Ridge Monte Bello (Skokie, IL): Served double blind from half-bottle. A mild barnyard element on the nose here, with the fruit not as prevalent (it’s hidden under those barnyard notes). There is nonetheless some black fruit here, alongside a fair bit of oak. The palate feels more red-focussed, with a coolness here that makes this relatively refreshing. However, upon retasting, I think the fruit is a little more pruney than I initially noted. Nonetheless, there’s still plenty of oak and fruit tannin remaining. My 6th, group's 5th.
