89 Points

Wednesday, July 29, 2015 - Medium-ruby, irregular fast-moving legs @ 14% abv. Medium aromas of bramblebush, parchment, earth, leather, mainly tertiary aromas. Dry, medium-medium(+) acidity, medium(-) soft tannin, high alcohol with noticeble heat, medium(+)-full body. Medium-medium(+) layered flavors of with 'high acid' flavors like cherries, red berry compote upfront followed with coffee arabica, leathery, earthy notes. Rich velvety texture, with sinewy, almost austere chewy structure. Good length with finish displaying some cutting acidity and tannins leaving an austere, almost calvinistic sensation.
A serious wine, tomyoung to drink now. Not for the easy drinkers. Rated 89 for now. Will need more sampling in a couple of years with different foods to complete the assessment. At least I am intrigued by the Phiculle.
