Friday, April 17, 2015 - Very good. It needs at least 3 hours in the decanter. On initial opening this wine was very tight, and tasted very young. Great color and great legs. I decanted for 2 hours and 2 hours was not enough time for this wine to open and evolve. After 2 hours I wondered if this wine was worth the $90. I noticed a significant difference after 3 hours. This wine started to evolve and the tannins became smooth. On initial opening there was a lot of alcohol on the nose. After 3 hours the alcohol on the nose was gone and replaced with a beautiful bouquet. This wine finishes long and has a nice mid palate. I am not sure I would purchase this wine again. for $90 I expected an "out of the body experience". On the second day, this wine had not improved. I think the Robert Mondavi Winery Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley (2012) for $20 drinks as well as this wine. the $20 bottle of wine would compete very well with this $90 bottle of wine in a blind test. The $20 Robert Mondavi has a short finish and the $90 Robert Mondavi has a long finish. Also, I think this wine could use one or two more years in the cellar to bring it to its full potential.
