Sunday, August 17, 2014 - I was in two mins as to whether to open this. Don Melchor is often at its best after ten years but I was intrigued by some of the relatively early drinking windows recommended for this particular vintage.

On opening I was worried by how young this looked. (No bricking at all). But on the nose, this really impressed. I've enjoyed the 2006 even though I can understand those who don't (It leans towards the monolithic and while I don't see it as a porty wine, I can see what people mean.) But the 2007 had a much more nuanced nose of olive and liquorice that just oozed the kind of complexity you'd expect from a top-notch Bordeaux blend.

I'm gonna leave my other two bottles fro a few years and maybe try and get hold of some more.

92 points now. Potential for 93-95 points.
