Friday, July 28, 2023 - This was a stupendous 1970 from Berns cold cellar. This wine had the deepest darkest cherry fruit, with a lively sweetness, and length you could measure in leagues!! 53 years old and it’s alive and kicking, there was also mineralspice, notes of compote, with hints of dried cherry, orange peel, gingerbread. This wine had great texture, and a thrilling finish. I love great Port!!!!

This is a slight return a few days later… This was so great! It’s amazing how this bottle had so much powerful fruit, with that drive that great Port wine can have without being sweet or heavy. I mean this had penetrating red and black cherry, sharp acid, wonderful old sweet tobacco, Christmas spice, and a very fluid approach. I just kept sipping and sniffing, sipping and sniffing!
