Community Tasting Note

Sunday, August 31, 2008 - Showing some age at the rim - thinning color. Otherwise, ruby-red color with plenty of thickness. Nose shows candied prunes, raisins, iodine, and a generally red fruited presence. On the palate, this initially had a high sweet medicinal note to it. After 20 hours in decanter, this integrated and the presentation was more of candied prunes with the medicinal note showing on the long finish. By day three, the wine had fully integrated and was showing deep chocolate character (milk chocolate on day two, bittersweet chocolate on day three). Very pleasant, mature, and will make a good old port in 25 more years. Seemingly better balanced than the '66 from Magnum in July.
