Wednesday, June 6, 2018 - Bright cherry red in color with a hint of brick at the edge. Fairly primary on the nose, showing mostly sour cherry and raspberry fruit aromas alongside a slight whiff of VA. There’s also a nice fresh-rose floral undertone that emerges with some air, as well as a touch of licorice. On the palate, it’s textbook traditional sangiovese—medium bodied, sour cherry, herbs, a touch of leather and smoke, a good dose of acid, and moderate but slightly bitter tannin. It’s perfectly good, but not as good as other vintages of this wine that I’ve had, and a bit ho-hum.
